Harvest Mission Appeal 2007

14th October 2007

The Harvest Mission Appeal 2007 launches this Harvest Sunday, 14th October 2007.

It's your opportunity to be involved in outreach and mission in our parish, in our nation, and in the world.

Training new Ministers - Carolyn Dougan
A new generation of ministers must be trained to lead and equip the church in the coming decades. We are privileged to have been invovled in sending Carolyn Dougan to train as an evangelist for three years at the Church Army college in Sheffield.
Carolyn is a vivacious character with an immense store of energy and has served in our church on the CMSI Regional Support Group, the Alpha Course, within HYP as well as outside the church in Nightlight in Belfast and with people with HIV AIDS.
Having given up her business, she is now training for three years and needs to raise £7,000 of the £17,000 per year training costs. As her home church, we have the responsibility for supporting her both financially and in our prayers so that she will be equipped to serve the wider church in the future.

Children's Ministry at St. Philip and St. James - Sharon Yarr
In 2006 we raised £10,000 to fund a part-time Leader of Children's Ministry. Sharon Yarr was appointed in August 2006 and has developed the children's ministry on Sundays, at weekday clubs and by organising training and musical events.
It is essential that we maintain the support for Sharon as she leads this growing ministry. Many new families have joined our church because their children are able to worship and learn about their faith in a fun, lively and attractive environment.

Engaging with the needs of the world - The Bishops' Fund
The Bishops of the Church of Ireland administer an appeal that funds both specific development work in the world and responds to disasters as they occur. Each year we contribute to this fund and this year we are raising the profile of its work.
