Preschool Praise is our church for infants on Thursday mornings 10 a.m. – 12 noon.

Children and their carers come to meet, sing and learn about Jesus in the context of play.

Alpha

Alpha is a 10-week course for those wanting to learn more about the Christian faith. The course will meet on a weekday evening for a meal together, a talk and a group discussion in a relaxed setting. It’s the perfect place to ask and discuss the big questions.

A new course will begin in January.

Jubilate

Jubilate is a group of singers that leads worship at the Family Service once a month and performs with the Parish Choir and guest musicians for special events and concerts.

Jubilate ideally suited for those who would like to sing with others but do not feel they can commit to the heavier rehearsal, service and performance shedule of the Choir.

The Choir meets at 7:30 pm on the Wednesdays in Church. Jubilate meets at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays leading up to special events.

Worship Bands

HPC has a number of bands made up from a large pool of talented players, singers and musicians, both classically trained and self-taught and with experience in many different musical styles and disciplines. These bands lead worship at the 9:45 a.m. Family Worship and 7:00 p.m. Worship etc services, as well as other special events, and all rehearse regularly together.

Saturday Prayer Breakfasts

A weekly time of prayer, fellowship and food (of course!), to focus on the needs of the Parish in the coming days.

Meets at 8:30 am on Saturday mornings in the Parish centre.

Mothers' Union

The Mothers’ Union is a large worldwide organisation represented throughout the Anglican Communion. We are very proud of our branch in Holywood, which is one of the best attended church organisations – 50 to 60 members meet on the first Wednesday of each month for worship, prayers and fellowship, and to listen to a varied programme of speakers.

There is a strong spirit of fellowship and mutual support, not only during the meetings and refreshment time, but also through care for those members who are housebound or sick.

The Men’s Society

The Church of Ireland Men’s Society exists to promote Christian fellowship amongst men. Our branch has been in existence over ten years and some 20 to 25 members attend these meetings.

The Men’s Society meets monthly and has a varied programme of speakers. Interesting outings are arranged and there are opportunities to meet with members from other branches at joint meetings and visits.

Keep Fit

Several ladies regularly attend our Keep Fit class. It is led by an experienced trainer, with refreshments and a brief devotion following the ‘work out’.

There is even a crèche provided for any children of those who may come along. Be assured that there is no age barrier to this activity.

If you would like to try it out, why not come along one Thursday or contact the organiser, Anne Miller.

Meets at 10:15 am on Thursdays in the Parish Centre.

Flower Arrangers

Every week, the church is decorated by one our our flower arrangers. At Christmas, Easter or Harvest, the whole team of volunteers and other helpers combine to florallytransform the church building.

If you wish to make a donation towards the cost of flowers, perhaps in memory of a loved one, get in touch.

Fellowship Groups

Fellowship Groups generally consist around 8 to 12 people, who meet on a regular basis – usually twice a month – to discuss their faith, pray together, read the Bible and generally encourage one another.

The groups can be made up in a variety of ways depending on the preferences of those involved: some are people who came through an Alpha course together, some are all male, some all female, some are all in the ‘older’ age group, some all younger and several are totally mixed. Some groups meet in the day time, but most meet in the evenings and traditionally this has been on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month – though nothing is set in stone. Whilst some groups meet throughout the year, others take the summer months off. Most groups meet in the home of one of the members, but some meet in the Parish Centre.

Many new Christians and those new to our parish find these groups a useful way to meet like-minded people. Lots of us, whilst enjoying and learning from traditional-style teaching sermons, also want to take part in discussion and debate – which, of course, would not necessarily go down well in the middle of a Sunday service.

Fellowship groups also give the opportunity to ‘do life together’ in community: to know and be known, to care and be cared for, to serve and be served, to minister and be ministered to, to worship together, laugh together, grow together, pray together.

If the idea of joining a Fellowship Group appeals to you, you can either be added to an existing group, if one exists to suit your tastes, or if there are enough new names, a totally new group can be set up for you. Your first port of call is to give your details to Roger or Jim, who will sort out something for you as soon as possible.
