talk notes:
Mothers are under many pressures. In the busyness, how do we make sure the things we spend our lives on count; a positive use of our God-given abilities, a response to the grace He has poured out on us?
Paul reminds Timothy that we have a heritage. Timothy’s mother was a Jewish Christian, his father was a Greek. His mother passed her faith on to him, and her grandmother before that, despite the harsh realities of first century life. She told Him about God’s people, that He had delivered and saved throughout history. Never underestimate the power you have to pass on your faith to your children; and never give up praying for your children. God has given us a spirit not of timidity but of power.
No matter what difficulties and responsibilities you face, any fear you have of those things is not from God. God never leaves or forsakes us; and He loves to pour His love and goodness upon us. His power works best in our weakness; when we have no more to give, nowhere else to turn. We have a spirit of self-control and sound mindedness.
