Passages in this talk:
No one comes to marriage as prepared as we’d like to be. Some of us aren’t married, some may not; a large proportion of people will marry. So what are some of the things we can pass on through our marriages?
People should see a picture of the relationship between Christ and the Church – insight into who God is, how He loves and wants to relate to us today. Particularly, they should see how to love, and how to forgive.
At the heart of Paul’s message is love, a mirror, a reflection to the world around us of how He gave himself up for us, to bring us back into a right relationship with Him. When people look at our relationships, if Christ is in us, they will see forgiveness, and self-sacrifice, in spite of the hurt and pains we may experience along the way. We choose to forgive and draw on his strength and grace to put that in practise every day.
